Our day long, highly interactive workshop helps teachers, staff and administrators build awareness about why ethics matters, come together around their core ethical values and their common purpose in schools, and consider ways to forward ethics across their school culture.

Teachers, Staff, and Administrators.

Overview and Objectives

Building Ethical Awareness: What is the landscape of ethics within which schools and young people operate?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

  • Discuss ways that our “ethical barometer” has changed over time
  • Discuss the resources and challenges for young people and school in the 21st century

Defining Common Ground: What are the ethical values participants share as a school community?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

  • Determine the core ethical values they share, and compare this to IGE’s research on shared values from around the world
  • Identify specific practices to uphold these values in action

Exploring Schools of Integrity: What conditions need to be in place in schools to support and build cultures of trust?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

  • Explore IGE’s Schools of Integrity research, drawn from schools known for their successful balance of academic rigor and attention to the ethical development of young people
  • Discuss results from the School Culture Assessment, and explore the strengths and needs this exercise reveals
  • Develop personal action plans considering the opportunities for integrating ethics across the curriculum, the extra curriculum, and the hidden curriculum of the school in an effort to build trust
