2010 Ethical Literacy® Conference

By ,

Greetings from the Ethical Literacy® Learning Community:

A great deal of appreciation goes out to the participants and presenters of our recent 2010 Ethical Literacy® Conference. Their voice is what gives this work meaning and inspiration. Each year we leave our annual conference feeling confident that this was our best ever, and with great purpose and challenge to make next year’s conference live up to the previous. This e-mail connects you to the learning from this year’s conference.

Thanks to the generosity of conference sponsors St. George’s Independent School and the Assisi Foundation of Memphis, we were able to enhance the formatting of the conference. We were able to include the participation of featured speakers and presenters, alongside presenters from participating Ethical Literacy® Teams. For many of us, the learning opportunities our dynamic and enthusiastic presenters provided were highlights of the conference. Click here to learn more about useful takeaways that come directly from them!

To learn more about what happened at individual presentations please use the links in the following menu. You are able to view video clips and PowerPoint presentations. Please note access to certain content including presentation handouts and full videos is restricted for conference attendees, Building School Culture™ Trainers, and Ethical Literacy Teams only:

In addition, and again thanks in part to the generosity of the Assisi Foundation of Memphis, we were able to convene a “field trip” for conference attendees to experience a moving and powerful private tour of the National Civil Rights Museum. This trip helped us all to understand and revitalize our thinking about why we are all doing the ethics work we do in schools.
After spending time reflecting on the wonderful experiences we shared at the conference we are already underway with plans for the 2011 Ethical Literacy Conference. Save the dates: June 22 – 24, 2011, for the fifth annual Ethical Literacy Conference location to be announced soon!

With much enthusiasm for an ethical school year!
The IGE Ethical Literacy® Team
Paula Mirk, Amber Kruk, and Andrea Curtis
